A total of nine local councils represent the interests of the citizens in the districts of:

• Altenlingen (only available in German)
• Baccum (only available in German)
• Bramsche (only available in German)
• Brögbern (only available in German)
• Clusorth-Bramhar (only available in German)
• Darme (only available in German)
• Holthausen (only available in German)
• Laxten (only available in German)
• Schepsdorf (only available in German)

The elected members of the local councils elect the respective local mayor.
